A10 Networks strengthens cloud security with the first application delivery solution integrated with next-generation WAF for security and resiliency of hybrid cloud environments
A10 Networks announced a combined solution consisting of Thunder Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and the new A10 Next-Generation Web Application Firewall (WAF powered by Fastly) to provide automated layered security and resiliency for hybrid cloud environments.
This combination creates a high-performance security solution at a strategic application entry point that reduces false positives and automates security for increased flexibility and efficiency. It also helps improve cloud economics and business outcomes.
The novelty is a single solution to improve web protection for software and hardware devices hosted in hybrid cloud environments. It can be deployed in various form factors, including virtual machines and hardware devices.
Thunder ADC can provide DDoS protection, authentication, and protocol inspection. A10 Next-Gen WAF provides advanced web application security services. Sitting in front of application servers, one such solution can effectively serve one, hundreds or thousands of applications without the need to deploy separate applications for each of the servers. This reduces application security deployment time.
The combination of the A10 Thunder ADC and the A10 Next-Gen WAF provides several features that go beyond the functionality of traditional web application firewalls. These include:
- Layered Protection - resists today's web threats and includes OWASP Top 10 protection, DDoS protection, TLS/SSL authentication and decryption.
- Simplification through consolidation - Thunder ADC convergence is a fully integrated solution optimized with advanced load balancing, ADC caching and Fastly cloud service. In addition, customers have a single point of support from A10 Networks.
- Ease of use - no training period for IT professionals with near-zero false positives. About 90% of Fastly users run the solution in block mode, ensuring that only malicious traffic is stopped.
- Reduced costs - the solution provides a high level of protection with little or no configuration, uses a combination of thresholds, as well as proprietary Fastly technologies - Network Learning Exchange (NLX) and SmartParse technologies to reduce false positives and provide highly effective automatic detection and blocking.
- Reduced risk - protects against modern attack vectors such as account takeover (ATO), enumeration attacks (brute force) and DDoS, integrates with popular DevOps and SIEM tools, making it an ideal choice for enterprise DevSecOps teams.
