Lenovo introduces new workstations with Intel Sapphire Rapids processors and NVIDIA RTX A6000 graphics cards
Lenovo introduced new ThinkStation P5, P7 and PX workstations based on the latest 4th generation Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids processors, including the W-3400 and W-2400 desktop models and the Xeon Platinum 8400 server. New products are also equipped with professional graphics accelerators from the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace series.
The ThinkStation P5 comes with Intel Xeon W-2400 processors up to 24-core and 48-thread Intel Xeon W7-2495X up to 4.8 GHz. The system is equipped with eight-channel DDR5-4800 ECC memory up to 512 GB. The motherboard is based on the Intel W790 chipset and has two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, one PCIe 4.0 x8 slot and three PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. The model supports the installation of up to two professional NVIDIA RTX A6000 graphics cards each with 48 GB of GDDR6 memory. The system can also include up to three 4TB NVMe SSDs and three hard drives up to 12TB.
The workstation is powered by a 750W or 1000W AC adapter depending on configuration. The workstation also includes two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports, four USB-C 3.2 Gen2, one USB-C 3.2 Gen2x2 (20Gb/s), two USB 2.0, one LAN network adapter. It is also worth noting the support for the wireless standards Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
The ThinkStation P7 is powered by higher performance Intel Xeon W-3400 series processors, up to 56-core and 112-thread Intel Xeon W9-3495 at up to 4.8 GHz. The amount of DDR5-4800 RAM is up to 1 TB. It is possible to install three professional NVIDIA RTX A6000 graphics cards. The ThinkStation P7 mainboard based on the Intel W790 chipset has three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, as well as PCIe 4.0 x16, PCIe 4.0 x8, PCIe 5.0 x4, and PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. For storage, the system can use four 4TB M.2 SSDs and three 12TB HDDs, or five NVMe drives for a total of 20TB and one 12TB HDD. The set of external connectors of the ThinkStation P7 is the same as on the ThinkStation P5. The system is powered by a 1000W or 1400W power supply depending on the configuration.
The Lenovo ThinkStation PX is equipped with two 4th generation Intel Xeon processors at the server level. The system can be equipped with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8490H with 60 cores and 120 threads and a frequency of up to 3.5 GHz. The workstation supports up to 2TB of DDR5-4800 RAM and up to four NVIDIA RTX A6000 graphics accelerators, each with 48GB of GDDR6 memory. The Lenovo ThinkStation PX motherboard with the Intel C741 chipset for dual-processor systems has four PCIe 5.0 x16, four PCIe 4.0 x16, and one PCIe 4.0 x8 slots. ThinkStation PX can include up to seven 4TB M.2 SSDs and up to two HDDs up to 12TB, or up to three NVMe drives for a total of 12TB and four HDDs for a total of 48TB.
The Lenovo ThinkStation PX external connector kit consists of two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 (10Gb/s), two USB-C 3.2 Gen2 (10Gb/s), four USB-A 3.2 Gen1 (5Gb/s), one USB – One C 3.2 Gen2x2 (20 Gb/s), two USB 2.0, one gigabit and one 10 gigabit network connection. There is also support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless standards. The system is equipped with a 1850W power supply with an efficiency of over 92%.
New Lenovo workstations are preinstalled with Window 10 or Windows 11 Pro or Ubuntu Linux operating systems. In addition, they claim support for Windows 10 Enterprise Edition and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
